Noob looking for guidance.
Hi there ppl. I'm noob and looking for some guidance.
What combat type should I aim for at first? What isn't worth it so I don't waste time on it?
What sever is more populated? PvE or PvP?
Thanks in advance.
Mauling, Xbow, battle tactics, Spiritualism, LIfe/psi/stam regen.
PvP server is way more populated. PvE only has a few people online afk leveling their skills.
Thanks both for the input.
Why Maul is better than Sword?
Does more base damage, and the artifacts are better.
Most who take severing end up swapping it.
Sorcery will eventually be good, but for soloing other classes work better. Mage is only truly good grouped.
Lizard Leg Axe#1 PVP
Moon Axe#1 PVE
Blackwood: Severer>Archer>Mauler>Mage(although mage doesn't need to use hexe wands)
Pstone farm: Equal in effectiveness, but more of a piss about as mage
Lizgoth Map Farm: Severer>Archer=Mauler> LOL FUCK OFF Mr. mage
I await strong disagreement
Interesting. Thx for the inputs.
Are golems just as resistant to magic as to physical attacks?
@Abb I haven't extensively tested golems as a mage, but I believe so. Couple battle tactics do 70-85 damage without stone slayer even when its crystals haven't been destroyed, so mage wouldn't be able to compete regardless.
That said I would argue the crystal armor set should largely be ignored.
@Holya What is "Hades, Blackwood, Tart"? Are they monsters?
So for example, if I combat Hades monsters, I will do better with Swords? Why?
@SirFederico These are 'dungeons'.
@SirFederico you'll typically do better in PVE as a severer because the Moon Axe has(at least situationally) the best AoE damage in the game. However one could make an argument for archer being better, as archers can afk more fights. That said, you only even want two items from dungeons as a severer, and those are Blood Pendant(some LP necks are better)/Runic Helm. Getting both of those is probably going to net you 500+ hours of grinding.
Most of your gear however will come from Pstones(afking a pack of 5-10 mobs, occasionally tabbing back in when you're ready to loot the mini-boss), tailoring(RNG/time consuming as hell), and the most time consuming of all farming lizgoth maps+lockpicking, which is essentially Pstones but with another layer of lockpicky bullshit attached to it. Every PVE activity that comes to mind is basically just AOEing crap down, and severers are best at that. Tart is an AOE dungeon too, but mages can pull slightly ahead by trapping crap with its walls and spamming AOE spells.
@Holya Moon Axe has(at least situationally) the best AoE damage in the game.
What about Crystal Hammer? Don't have access to my mauler right now, but last time I played him, that crystal hammer was bad ass for AoE damage.
Area Damage Chance 60%
Life Increase 15
Damage Increase 50%
Base Damage: 14-20
Base Speed: 31
Night Damage Bonus
Area Damage Chance 60%
Superior Dodge 15%
Damage Increase 35%
Swing Speed Increase 25%
Ice Resistance +30%
Base Damage: 14-18
Base Speed: 32
It pretty much comes down to defensive stats+whirlwind being superior to resonating+splinter. The difference isn't that large, though, and it's definitely worth pointing out that a crystal hammer is significantly easier to obtain.

@Holya Awesome, very cool info, thanks.
I still think Mauling is better for PvE, especially against bosses. It's the better damage. Bosses are nothing but ridiculous pools of HP, and it's quicker to mow down a boss with mauling than with severing.
